All the Henry’s in the World
The way they describe Henry’s face from Addie’s pov is so heartwarmingly, so plainly beautiful. It’s so simple. Grey eyes behind glasses, lashes on the cheek. Makes you feel like it’s not a fictional character, it’s just anyone. It could be any person, it could be someone on the metro or someone in a coffee shop. It really just could be anyone. And yet.
I keep thinking, how many of us go through life watching people and feeling a strange admiration for their appearance. The best part is when the person isn’t aware, they aren’t looking at you, they’re looking away and you catch them in this light, from a lightbulb overhead or just by the window, and something within you rises. The way it does when you listen to a song you love or look at a picture of gorgeous places. That thing that comes rushing to the surface almost knocks you off balance. And I love it, bc you’re not looking at someone on a red carpet, you’re looking at a normal person, someone, just existing floating in this world; just as you are.
Isn’t it lovely to think we could be art museums to random strangers on the bus or in the streets, we could be just mindlessly playing with our hair or laughing at our phones and someone’s eyes would land on us by pure coincidence, and we’d make them feel the way they do when they listen to a song they like.
